Opening 2025: two new VC Analyst Trainee positions
Voima Ventures is seeking two Venture Capital Analyst Trainees to join our ambitious and fun team. In this role, you will evaluate investment opportunities, support the team with portfolio companies, and gain hands-on experience in the dynamic world of venture capital. This part-time position, approximately 20 hours per week (can be full time as well), is designed to complement your studies, offering a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of cutting-edge science, entrepreneurship, and finance, contributing directly to impactful investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Investment Analysis & Market Research (50%)
    Conduct detailed market and competitive analyses in various deep tech sectors, such as quantum computing, health tech, and sustainability.
    Evaluate startup business models, unit economics, and value propositions.
    Assist in due diligence processes, including financial modeling and data analysis.
  2. Deal Sourcing & Screening (30%)
    Identify and assess promising startups, including attending events and connecting with founders.
    Screen incoming deal flow for alignment with Voima Ventures’ investment thesis.
  3. Data Management & Reporting (20%)
    Maintain and update CRM tools with deal flow and portfolio data.
    Prepare materials and presentations for investment committee meetings.
  4. Portfolio Support (case by case)
    Provide strategic and operational support to portfolio companies, including market expansion strategies and KPI analysis.
    Track performance metrics and prepare internal and external reports.
  5. Thought Leadership (case by case)
    Contribute to Voima Ventures’ content creation, including blogs, reports, and industry insights.
    Monitor and report on emerging trends in deep tech and venture capital.

What are we looking for? Entrepreneurial & analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation.

  1. Educational Background
    • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in economics, finance, engineering, or a science-related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
  2. Technical Skills
    • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in Excel and financial modeling, but also ability to assess new emerging innovations spinning from science
    • Experience with databases and tools such as PitchBook, Crunchbase, or similar is a plus.
  3. Passion for Deep Tech and Startups
    • Demonstrated interest in deep tech sectors like quantum, AI, biotech, or materials science.
    • Experience in entrepreneurial environments, such as working with or at startups or participating in organisations like Slush or entrepreneurship programs, is highly valued.
  4. Interpersonal & Communication Skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English required; proficiency in Finnish or Swedish is a plus).
    • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  5. Additional Qualities
    • Strong curiosity and willingness to learn about emerging technologies.
    • Self-starter mindset, with attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
